Els envasos s\u00f3n un dels materials m\u00e9s habituals en la cuina i en el sector de la restauraci\u00f3.<\/em><\/p>\n

Greenpeace ha presentat aquesta setmana l’informe\u00a0Ecoembes menteix: Desmuntant els enganys de la gesti\u00f3 de residus d’envasos dom\u00e8stics<\/strong>\u00a0per evidenciar les defici\u00e8ncies d’un sistema de gesti\u00f3 que, des de la seva implantaci\u00f3 fa dues d\u00e8cades, no ha aconseguit posar fi a l’allau pl\u00e0stica.<\/p>\n

En la investigaci\u00f3 es mostra que el cas de Mallorca\u00a0<\/strong>\u00e9s significatiu del que passa amb els envasos que Ecoembes, l’empresa encarregada de gestionar els cubs grocs a nivell estatal, diu que recicla. A la planta de selecci\u00f3 d’envasos de el Parc de Tecnologies Ambientals de Mallorca van entrar el 2017, segons la mem\u00f2ria de l’MITECO, 21.486,81 tones. D’aquestes, gaireb\u00e9 8.000 tones van anar a parar directament a la incineradora. Aix\u00f2 suposa que\u00a0pr\u00e0cticament el 40% dels envasos que van entrar a la planta de selecci\u00f3 van acabar cremats<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Abocador il\u00b7legal a Felanitx
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

A m\u00e9s, Greenpeace ha pogut documentar l’exist\u00e8ncia de grans quantitats de pl\u00e0stics abocats al medi ambient, com per exemple en un abocador il\u00b7legal a Felanitx, amb milers d’envasos abandonats que no estan rebent cap tractament per part de l’empresa recicladora.<\/p>\n

Quan una empresa posa al mercat un env\u00e0s dom\u00e8stic (pl\u00e0stic, alumini, metall, paper-cartr\u00f3, etc.), ho fa imprimint un punt verd, que significa que s’ha pagat un percentatge perqu\u00e8 Ecoembes recuperi i recicli aquest env\u00e0s. No obstant aix\u00f2,\u00a0de tots els envasos de pl\u00e0stic que la ciutadania compra, Ecoembes tot just recupera i recicla al seu contenidor groc el 25% i la resta passa a contaminar el medi ambient.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Un monopoli de les grans marques
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ecoembes \u00e9s un monopoli format per les principals marques contaminants de pl\u00e0stic (Coca-Cola, Nestl\u00e9, P&G …) que, a trav\u00e9s d’aquesta entitat pantalla, netegen la seva imatge per\u00f2 sense tallar el ritme de la producci\u00f3, ni generar sistemes m\u00e9s nets com l’env\u00e0s retornable i reutilitzable. Segons Greenpeace,\u00a0“Ecoembes no \u00e9s una organitzaci\u00f3 mediambiental, com anuncia. Ni una entitat sense \u00e0nim de lucre: en els \u00faltims 18 anys, ha multiplicat per cinc els seus ingressos que, nom\u00e9s el 2018, ascendien a 578 milions d’euros”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“Ecoembes i les seves empreses han bloquejat durant molt de temps alternatives a la del seu ineficient gesti\u00f3 d’envasos, com \u00e9s disposar d’un sistema de retorn i devoluci\u00f3 d’envasos. Parlam de dues d\u00e8cades perdudes en la lluita contra la contaminaci\u00f3 per pl\u00e0stics”, ha declarat Mario Rodr\u00edguez Vargas<\/strong>, director executiu de Greenpeace Espanya. “Per aix\u00f2, demanam a la vicepresidenta per a la Transici\u00f3 Ecol\u00f2gica i el Repte Demogr\u00e0fic que, amb motiu de la imminent tramitaci\u00f3 de la nova Llei de Residus, fomenti mesures reals basades en l’economia circular, amb l’eliminaci\u00f3 d’envasos d’un sol \u00fas i l’aposta per la reutilitzaci\u00f3 i retorn d’envasos”.<\/p>\n

On acaben els envasos<\/strong><\/p>\n

Per evidenciar el problema mediambiental que suposa Ecoembes, Greenpeace ha fet una investigaci\u00f3\u00a0 per denunciar alguns errors\u00a0greus\u00a0de sistema o, el que \u00e9s el mateix, per respondre a la pregunta: on acaben de veritat els envasos? Aquests en s\u00f3n alguns exemples:<\/p>\n

En abocadors
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Segons el MITECO, el 44% dels pl\u00e0stics espanyols acaben en abocadors, quan la majoria podrien ser reciclats. Resulta paradigm\u00e0tic, per exemple, el cas d’Utiel Recicla SL a Val\u00e8ncia. Una instal\u00b7laci\u00f3 no habilitada per emmagatzemar pl\u00e0stic per\u00f2 en la qual, des 2016, s’acumula pl\u00e0stic de vuit empreses, sis d’elles homologades i adjudicades per Ecoembes. L’empresa amb major quantitat \u00e9s Saica Natur, que \u00e9s part de el Consell d’Administraci\u00f3 d’Ecoembes. Tot i que una sent\u00e8ncia obligava a 2018 a la retirada immediata de l’pl\u00e0stic, hem comprovat enguany\u00a0in situ<\/em>\u00a0com el pl\u00e0stic, lluny de ser reciclat, es tapa amb terra al ve\u00ed abocador de Caudete de les Fonts.<\/p>\n

En incendis en plantes de reciclatge
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

De 2012 a setembre de 2020 s’han comptabilitzat 342 incendis en plantes de reciclatge i, al menys, fins a 2019, 35 d’aquestes apareixen en les llistes de recuperadors i recicladors homologats per Ecoembes. D’aquestes 35 plantes, 26 han patit m\u00e9s d’un incendi, i algunes fins a cinc, en aquest per\u00edode. Unes reincid\u00e8ncies “sospitoses” que han portat al Seprona a parlar d’un \u00edndex d’intencionalitat d’almenys un 15% i a les companyies asseguradores a endurir les p\u00f2lisses en el sector davant aquesta alta sinistralitat.<\/p>\n

En el medi ambient
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nom\u00e9s en mars i oceans, es calcula que cada any es concentren fins a 12 milions de tones d’escombraries i entre un 21% i el 54% de les part\u00edcules de micropl\u00e0stics en el m\u00f3n s\u00f3n a la conca de la Mediterr\u00e0nia.<\/p>\n

Exportats<\/strong><\/p>\n

Si contaminar \u00e9s dolent per al medi ambient, enviar-lo a pa\u00efsos amb menys capacitat de gesti\u00f3 de residus, resulta encara m\u00e9s q\u00fcestionable. La normativa laber\u00edntica d’exportaci\u00f3 i la manca de controls permet que alguns exportadors envi\u00efn pl\u00e0stic a l’exterior impunement. A Mal\u00e0isia, per exemple, Greenpeace ha trobat, dos anys seguits, envasos pl\u00e0stics espanyols en abocadors il\u00b7legals, com el de Jenjarom. El ministeri d’Energia, Ci\u00e8ncia, Tecnologia, Canvi Clim\u00e0tic i Medi Ambient malaisi ha tornat a Espanya, en els dos \u00faltims anys, m\u00e9s d’una vintena de contenidors de residus pl\u00e0stics que intentaven entrar a pa\u00eds il\u00b7legalment. Aquest mateix mes de febrer, el Ministeri per a la Transici\u00f3 Ecol\u00f2gica i el Repte Demogr\u00e0fic d’Espanya manifestava p\u00fablicament sospites sobre el trasllat il\u00b7l\u00edcit de residus: “Com a resultat d’aquestes inspeccions s’ha pogut detectar que\u00a0una part important de residus de pl\u00e0stics exportats als pa\u00efsos asi\u00e0tics des d’Espanya no s\u00f3n traslladats d’acord amb la normativa vigent<\/strong>, i poden resultar en molts casos com trasllats il\u00b7l\u00edcits. I no \u00e9s l’\u00fanica zona, Greenpeace ha trobat indicis d’exportaci\u00f3 de pl\u00e0stic en altres pa\u00efsos com Indon\u00e8sia i Ghana.<\/p>\n

En incineradores
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ecoembes parla d’economia circular per referir-se al pl\u00e0stic que es crema. Se suposa que aix\u00ed genera energia, per\u00f2 la incineraci\u00f3 \u00e9s el pitjor sistema de gesti\u00f3 de residus perqu\u00e8 emet subst\u00e0ncies molt t\u00f2xiques (com les dioxines \/ furans que causen c\u00e0ncer) o metalls pesants com el mercuri, el cadmi i el plom, aix\u00ed com els principals gasos d’efecte hivernacle.<\/p>\n

Sobrecost econ\u00f2mic
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Segons Greenpeace, a m\u00e9s de l’evident problema mediambiental, la mala gesti\u00f3 d’Ecoembes est\u00e0 generant un sobrecost en dues direccions. A les empreses productores, ja que molts dels envasos pels quals han pagat el punt verd no es reciclen (ja sigui perqu\u00e8 no es dipositen en el contenidor groc o b\u00e9 perqu\u00e8 s’escapen del sistema de recuperaci\u00f3: pel color, mida, composici\u00f3, etc.). I a la ciutadania, perqu\u00e8 Ecoembes calcula, normalment a la baixa, el que costar\u00e0 als ajuntaments la recollida d’envasos pl\u00e0stics, del contenidor i del carrer, i genera aix\u00ed sobrecostos a les Administracions.<\/p>\n
