De fet, prov\u00e9 d&#8217;una festa pagana de la Roma precristiana denominada les Saturnals, que se celebravaen honor a Saturn,\u00a0entre el 17 i el 25 de desembre, . En aquesta festa, a m\u00e9s d&#8217;altres aliments, ja es prenien unes postres amb les mateixes caracter\u00edstiques en les quals\u00a0s&#8217;introdu\u00efen fruits secs, figues i panses. Per\u00f2 no va ser fins un segle despr\u00e9s, que va comen\u00e7ar a incorporar-s&#8217;hi la fava a l&#8217;interior. A qui la trobava, se li augurava un any de sort, per la qual cosa la connotaci\u00f3 del llegum era molt diferent de la d&#8217;ara. A l&#8217;edat mitjana, la festa es va cristianitzar i va donar com a origen la festa de Nadal, amb el naixement de Jes\u00fas.<\/p>\n<p>Ja m\u00e9s tard, en el segle XVIII el cuiner del rei Llu\u00eds XV, per complimentar el rei, va decidir introduir una moneda d&#8217;or, per la qual cosa trobar el diner, resultava m\u00e9s encoratjador que trobar la fava, de manera que a poc a poc el llegum va deixar de ser tan important i va passar a ser un s\u00edmbol de\u00a0dissort.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c9s durant el segle XIX quan s&#8217;hi comen\u00e7a a col\u00b7locar la figureta del rei i la famosa corona. Molt ha evolucionat la tradici\u00f3 fins a dia d&#8217;avui, i tamb\u00e9 els ingredients utilitzats, ja que s&#8217;ha substitu\u00eft la fruita seca per la nata, la crema o fins i tot la xocolata.
