Tenen una llarga tradici\u00f3\u00a0a Catalunya i al Pa\u00eds Valenci\u00e0 i, cada vegada m\u00e9s, s\u00f3n presents a les Illes Balears.<\/p>\n<p>El costum diu que els padrins l&#8217;han de regalar als seus fillols el diumenge de Pasqua, despr\u00e9s del dinar, i que el dilluns de Pasqua els familiars es reuneixen per menjar-la tots plegats. Aquesta mona, es diu, ha de contenir tants ous com anys t\u00e9 l&#8217;infant que la rep i amb un m\u00e0xim de dotze. Aquesta edat \u00e9s la triada perqu\u00e8 tradicionalment \u00e9s l&#8217;edat en qu\u00e8 els nens es confirmen i a partir d&#8217;aqu\u00ed es deixa de regalar. En alguns llocs, \u00e9s costum a m\u00e9s que els infants entonin una petita can\u00e7\u00f3 si volen que se&#8217;ls regali la mona.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Com eren tradicionalment les mones de Pasqua?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Curiosament, les mones no eren de xocolata. Aix\u00ed ho recull el\u00a0<em>Diccionari Catal\u00e0-Valenci\u00e0-Balear<\/em>: &#8220;La mona de Pasqua \u00e9s un obsequi que es fa per Pasqua florida als infants (fillols, n\u00e9ts, nebots o fills, segons les comarques) en tot el Principat de Catalunya i en el Pa\u00eds Valenci\u00e0; en canvi, \u00e9s un costum desconegut a les illes Balears. La mona sol consistir en una coca o past\u00eds rod\u00f3 i caramullut, que\u00a0<strong>porta un ou o molts d&#8217;ous durs, amb la closca, encallats dins la pasta de farina<\/strong>; en certes regions el past\u00eds t\u00e9 la forma d&#8217;algun objecte o animal, d&#8217;una gallina, d&#8217;un simi, d&#8217;un miny\u00f3, etc. En el Pa\u00eds Valenci\u00e0 existeix el costum d&#8217;anar la fam\u00edlia o les colles de fadrins i fadrines a menjar-se la mona al camp amb molta gatzara, i a m\u00e9s del\u00a0<strong>pa-socarrat i ous durs<\/strong>, es berena d&#8217;enciam i d&#8217;un embotit especial molt prim, anomenat llonganissa de Pasqua. En el\u00a0<strong>Pla d&#8217;Urgell<\/strong>\u00a0es distingeix la mona de casa, elaborada per les dones a casa seva i consistent en una coca voltada d&#8217;ous i recoberta de llavors d&#8217;an\u00eds, i la mona d&#8217;adroguer, que es fa a casa del confiter i consisteix en una tortada gran que en porta una altra de m\u00e9s petita a sobre, i totes dues recobertes de blancs d&#8217;ou i voltades d&#8217;ous durs a la part inferior. A la comarca de\u00a0<strong>Biar\u00a0<\/strong>la mona \u00e9s una tonya guarnida d&#8217;un o alguns ous&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>L&#8217;origen del mot<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sembla que el nom mona no prov\u00e9 de l&#8217;animal, del simi, sin\u00f3 que\u00a0ve del llat\u00ed (annona) m\u016dnda, que vol dir vianda.
