Aix\u00ed ho explica l&#8217;estudi publicat recentment a la revista\u00a0<em>Clinical Nutrition<\/em>\u00a0en el qual ha participat el doctor Miquel Fiol Sala, investigador de l&#8217;Institut Universitari d&#8217;Investigaci\u00f3 en Ci\u00e8ncies de la Salut (IUNICS) i del Centre d&#8217;Investigaci\u00f3 Biom\u00e8dica en Xarxa de Fisiopatologia de l&#8217;Obesitat i Nutrici\u00f3 (CIBEROBN), a m\u00e9s de director cient\u00edfic de l&#8217;Institut d&#8217;Investigaci\u00f3 Sanit\u00e0ria Illes Balears (IdISBa). L&#8217;estudi s&#8217;ha fet en el marc del projecte de recerca PREDIMED.<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;estudi ha analitzat 7.212 participants amb alt risc de malaltia cardiovascular despr\u00e9s de sis anys de seguiment. El treball revela que, en els individus amb un consum menor de llegums totals \u201413,95 grams de llenties, ciurons, mongetes i p\u00e8sols al dia\u2014, el risc de mortalitat per c\u00e0ncer \u00e9s gaireb\u00e9 el doble que en aquells que tenen un consum m\u00e9s gran \u201427,34 grams diaris.<\/p>\n<p>Aquest efecte protector es pot explicar gr\u00e0cies a l&#8217;alt contingut de polifenols, entre els quals predominen els \u00e0cids fen\u00f2lics i flavonoides, que, gr\u00e0cies a les seves propietats antioxidants, redueixen els efectes dels radicals lliures a l&#8217;organisme.
